CSC 222 Weekly Assignments: Week 4

CSC 222

Overview

This week we will finish setting vim as our light weight C++ IDE and introduce doctest.

Thursday, September 24th

Classwork

Quiz results are as follows: A: 9, B: 7, C:: 6, D: 3, E: 1.

These results are not bad, but I know we can still improve them. Daniel, Owen, Kerim, Molly, Sophie, and Kara (a.k.a. The Super Sisters Squad ;-) had perfect scores. If you have a C grade or below you have some work to do. I'll run a break-out session to go over the quiz in class. If you have a perfect score, don't attend. If you have a B or A-, it's your choice. If you have a C or lower, definitely attend and please pay close attention!

As promised, the rest of class will be spent working exercises from Chapter 5 Exercise Set 1: CPE Practice and Chapter 5 Extention: Introducing doctest.

I will model the process of committing your work to your git repos after the quiz review. You will have your first evaluation on this process next week.

Homework

Complete all exercises in Chapter 5 Exercise Set 1: CPE Practice. All of these exercises are fair game for a quiz you will have at the beginning of class next Monday.

Tuesday, September 22nd

Classwork

We'll begin class with the promised quiz based on the bitwise operators investigation we completed last week.

After that I'll show you how to use doctest for writing unit tests.

Together with the .vimrc file we learned about last week (dot_vimrc.txt) we will be able to use vim as a nice lightweight C++ IDE for learning about test-driven development (TDD).

Homework

Complete the exercises in Chapter 5 Exercise Set 1: CPE Practice and come to class on Thursday ready with any questions you have about them.
