Overview
This week we will continue our study of the different parts of a Django website, using Dr. Chuck's Django for Everybody as our principle (but not exclusive) resource.
Thursday, April 25th
Classwork
Everyone today will be taking a quiz.
PCEP preppers will take PCEP Practice Test 7, and will earn a grade using the following scale:
- A: 21 or greater out of 30 (70% or higher).
- B: 19, or 20 out of 30 (63.3% or 66.7%).
- C: 15, 16, 17, or 18 out of 30 (50% to 60%).
- D: 11, 12, 13, or 14 out of 30 (36.7% to 46.7%).
Everyone else will take the DJ4E Quiz 1.
Homework
Study for PCEP!!!, or, if you're already certified, relax, enjoy yourself, and have a great weekend!

Classwork
I am postponing the quiz until Thursday for two reasons: 1. I did not make clear that you could use a sheet of notes, front and back. 2. The link the MVC pattern in Django was blocked for you, and you need to read that before the quiz.
From here out, unless I specifically say otherwise you can use one page of notes, front and back, during all future quizzes.
One more thing, with the year quickly approaching its end, and several of you who have yet to earn your PCEP certification, I will form a PCEP study group during class so you can work together to prepare for it before time runs out.
For those who have PCEP, today I will walk you through
A Minimal Django Application, in which we create a tiny Django app from
scratch
.
Homework
Watch the video Django
Views (again, I recommend watching it more than once). Look inside
gctaa_dj4e_samples
to findall the source code referenced in the
video. When you finish, be sure you are familiar with both of the
discussed views: funky
and danger
.
And of course, if you have not already done so, prepare for the quiz on Thursday, including getting your one page of notes ready and printed before you come to class.
