CSC 221 Weekly Assignments: Week 18

CSC 221

Overview

Happy New Year! As I said before we left for Winter break, we will start 2024 by finishing getting you ready for the PCEP certification exam. From now until you have all earned your certification, that will be our exclusive focus. So work hard and let's get this done!

From here until the end of quarter 2, your weekly grade will be determined entirely by the average of your quiz scores.

Thursday, January 4th

Classwork / Homework

We will begin with a mini-quiz on dictionary operations, which I will correct and return to you during class.

After the quiz you should continue studying the questions from the question bank.

On Monday you will have 40 minutes to complete a 30 question PCEP practice test that will consist of questions similar to (either copied or modified from, actually) the questions in the question bank I have been preparing for you.

Tuesday, January 2nd

Classwork / Homework

We will begin with a mini-quiz on list operations, which I will correct and return to you during class.

After that the ball is in your court. You have been introduced to all the concepts you need to pass the PCEP, but it is now up to you to evaluate your own learning, figure out where you still have holes in your understanding, and then set about filling in those holes.

This kind of metacognitive activity is required to be an effective college student, and learning to do it will serve you well in your future studies.

I will be working to provide you with a wealth of materials to use for practice. I now have a collection of over a hundred practice questions. You should use both class and homework time to practice with these questions, making note of the ones you do not understand and asking to discuss them in class.

The PCEP consists of 30 questions to be completed in 40 minutes. Beginning Monday, January 8th, I will present you with tests in this same format to be completed each class period.
