Classes Here at Wakefield

  • AP CS Principles
  • Computer Programming Advanced

Dual Enrollment at ACC vs AP

  • Strict pre-requisite sequence
  • You are taking two classes at the same time
  • You get academic credit from BOTH APS and NOVA for this class
  • At the same time, you have to satisfy expectations for both
  • This is a big commitment! You’ll sign a “Dual Enrollment Contract”

What to expect in our classes

  • You’ll never be bored!
  • Lots of projects
  • College policies: Semester grading, no retakes, no late work
  • “Flipped Classroom” - homework every day, usually reading
  • Radical transparency - everything is public, we don’t use Canvas

Course Sequence

  1. DE Web Design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  2. DE Programming (Python, Django)
  3. DE Programming Advanced (C++, Discrete Math)
  4. DE Programming Intensified (Machine Language, C, Algorithms)

Placement Rules:

  • If you pass the AP Exam with a score of 3 or better, you can go straight to DE Programming Advanced
  • Otherwise, you must start with DE Web Design
