Overview
This week we dive right in to learning C++. This is at least your 2nd programming language, and for many of you your 3rd or more, so we will keep a very rigerous pace during first quarter, moving quickly enough to complete 11 chapters and prepare for taking the CPE - C++ Certified Entry-Level Programmer Certification exam at the end of first quarter.
Friday, September 11th
Classwork
We'll begin class with the promissed short quiz on output formatting.
Then we will then briefly discuss Chapter 3: Functions. We'll begin class with the promissed short quiz on output formatting. In this chapter we will be introduced to floating-point numbers and functions in C++.
After our discussion, use class time to complete the exercise sets at the end of Chapter 3: Functions.
Homework
Read Chapter 4: Conditionals and recursion. Come to class on Tuesday prepared to discuss it and ask questions.
Wednesday, September 9th
Classwork
We will begin by answering any questions you have from the exercises assigned in Chapter 2: Variables and types, after which we will have a quiz on that chapter.
Inspired by an email from Madi over the weekend, I found an excellent resource to use to help you learn about output formatting in C++, and have assigned it for homework.
You will be given time to start on that homework in class, during which time I hope to grade and return your quizzes.
Homework
Read Output Formatting: Programming Workshop 2. Compile and run the examples. Be prepared for a short quiz on this material at the beginning of class on Friday.
Read Chapter 3: Functions so we can work in class together on Friday on the exercises.
