This week we will resume our study of chapter for in The Accounting Game.

Thursday, January 22nd

Classwork

Today Jeidy, Mady, Molly and Jeff will work on setting up the 2025 financial records for SECOSOL. They will begin with the bank statements for each month, and investigate how to setup accounts for nonprofit organizations (NPOs).

They will begin with the following links to establish the task at hand:

Everyone else will be randomly put in three groups of four people to investigate money and to prepare a presentation on the topic that answers the following questions:

  1. What is money?
  2. Are there different forms of money?
  3. When did people first start using what we would call money?
  4. Is money a real thing? Why or why not?
  5. Do we need money? Why or why not?
  6. What are stablecoins?
  7. What is the current discussion in the U.S. around the use of stablecoins?

Classwork

Today we'll have another guest speaker, my friend and colleague from across the hall, Chris Jones. While I'm proctoring for Chris's students as they take a certification exam, Chris will be getting to know you all better and brainstorming with you ideas for our future entreprenuership program at the Grace Hopper Center.
